Our History
Founded in 1969
Carolina Solvents, Inc. (CSI) has been in business since 1969 and was founded by Tommy Simpson Sr., Ben Reynolds and Harold Bradshaw.
Our History
Tommy Simpson Sr., who preferred to be called Tom, served as President of Carolina Solvents from the start of CSI until his death in 2004. Over the next 35 years, Tom led the company through the height of the furniture industry in North Carolina by providing quality finishing products to the industry. His team created many innovative solvent and water based coatings for use on many different substrates. In January 1988, the Simpson family became the sole owners of Carolina Solvents, Inc.
Our History
Carolina Solvents has continued Tom’s vision for the company. Following Tom’s death in 2004, his second son Lindsay became President of CSI. Lindsay served as Vice-President of CSI for many years before coming President. During these years, CSI continued to adapt to changing markets and increased competition. Lindsay was President for twelve years until his death in 2016.
Today
Jackie Yoder is the current President of CSI. Jackie was elected President in 2016 following over 30 years of service to CSI. Jackie has worked diligently to improve research capabilities and operations.
Our Employees
Carolina Solvents would not be where it is today without our employees. Tom loved his employees very much, and showed it by providing time off with their families during the holiday seasons and providing meals for them on special occasions. This tradition is continued today, because we would not be where we are without our employees.
Our Products
CSI is a manufacturer of industrial coatings and custom blended solvents for a wide variety of applications. We also manufacture adhesives, water based coatings for plastic and metals, custom resins, and water based coatings. Lastly, we distribute industrial solvents. All of our solvents are virgin materials; we do not buy or sell any reclaimed solvents.
Our Customers
Many manufacturers have come to depend on CSI for quality products at competitive prices. CSI has always maintained that customer service and customer satisfaction are the two characteristics that keep our company competitive. We are proud of our track record and continue to make improvements to keep CSI “customer oriented.”
